A championship for the students nobody puts on a team sheet
Schools already have a cricket team, an athletics squad and a debate society. Memory sport gives a different student their turn — and the training behind it is useful in every exam they will ever sit.
Why we run it as a competition
Training on its own gets forgotten within a fortnight. A date in the calendar changes that.
A student who knows they are being tested on Saturday practises on Thursday. That is the entire mechanism, and it is why we score the test rather than simply running a workshop and leaving. The competition is not the point — the practice it forces is.
It also changes who gets to be good at something. Recall is trainable in a way that height and sprint speed are not, so the student who wins is usually not the one the school expected. We have watched that reorder a classroom more than once.
The five disciplines
Standard memory-sport events, scaled to school age, through trainings it takes students to a journey that can honestly prepare a student for.
- Random words
- A list of unrelated words, memorised in order and written back in the same order.
- Association — linking things that have no natural connection.
- Random numbers
- Rows of digits, recalled in sequence. The discipline every student expects to be impossible.
- Encoding — turning abstract digits into images that stay put.
- Images and objects
- A tray of objects or a grid of pictures, recalled by position.
- Visual memory and attention to detail under time pressure.
- Binary digits
- Long strings of ones and zeros, grouped and recalled in order.
- Chunking — the habit that makes long material manageable.
- The mega memory round
- A mixed final drawing on every discipline, used to separate the top finishers.
- Everything at once, which is what an exam hall actually asks for.
How a student moves up
Three levels. Every student starts at the first one, on the day their training ends.
Intra-school
Every enrolled student in the school
Held at the school straight after the two-day training. This is the scored memory skills test, and it doubles as the qualifying round.
Inter-school
Top scorers from each participating school
Schools in a city or district send their strongest performers to compete against each other. This is the stage we are building towards.
National
Students who place at inter-school level
A national final, with the disciplines and timings aligned to how memory sport is scored internationally.
What a host school receives
Enrolment is ₹167 per student, excluding GST. Everything below is included in that.
- Two days of live online training for every enrolled student
- All test papers, answer sheets and scoring, handled by us
- Independent judging, so results are not the school's to defend
- Medals for top performers and a certificate for every student who sits the test
- A result sheet for the school, showing scores across the cohort
- Coordination with your teachers on timetabling, so lessons are not disrupted
